Privacy Policy

MoviePick is built to collect as little as possible. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no cookies set by MoviePick itself.

Who is responsible

This website is run by the independent operator of MoviePick. A contact address for privacy requests will appear on the contact page as soon as one is available.

What is processed, and why

Server requests

Each request to the website carries technical information: your IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser’s user agent and the referring page. The hosting provider and any network service in front of the site process this to deliver pages and protect the site, and may keep it in logs under their own policies. MoviePick does not use this information to identify or profile visitors.

Rate limiting

To stop automated abuse of search and filters, MoviePick counts requests per visitor for a short period. The record holds a one-way keyed hash of your IP address, not the address itself, and is removed automatically.

Searches

Your search text is sent from MoviePick’s server to TMDB to find matching titles, without your IP address. Results are cached briefly by the text of the search, not by who searched.

Error logs

If a page fails, a technical message is recorded so the problem can be fixed. These logs are not designed to contain anything you typed.

What stays in your browser

My List and your chosen where-to-watch country are kept in your browser’s local storage. They are not cookies, and My List is never sent to MoviePick. When a title page loads availability for another country, the country code is part of that request. You can remove your list with “Clear list”, or remove everything by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

Outside services your browser contacts

• TMDB image servers (image.tmdb.org) deliver posters and photos, so they receive your IP address and browser details, as with any image on the web.
• YouTube delivers trailer preview images (i.ytimg.com) on title pages with a trailer. The player loads from youtube-nocookie.com only after you press play, and Google’s privacy policy then applies.
• Links to TMDB, JustWatch, IMDb and official websites take you to services with their own policies.

Sharing and retention

MoviePick does not sell personal data, share it for advertising or use it for automated decisions about you. Rate-limit records last hours, search cache entries last hours and contain no link to a person, and error logs are kept only as long as they are useful. Hosting and network logs follow those providers’ settings.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal data about you, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because MoviePick does not link technical data to individuals, it may not be able to find records about you.

Children

MoviePick is a general-audience information site. It has no feature that asks for personal data and does not knowingly collect it from children.

Changes

If the way MoviePick handles data changes, such as when a new service is added, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
