Editorial Policy

MoviePick should be easy to trust, so this page explains how its content is made and where the limits are.

Three kinds of content

Catalog data

Titles, dates, synopses, cast, crew, images and scores come from TMDB, and availability comes from JustWatch through TMDB. This information is shown as supplied and labeled with its source. MoviePick does not edit scores or reorder ranked lists.

Automatic summaries

The “About this title” paragraph and “Before you pick” notes are assembled by the site from TMDB facts such as genre, director, runtime and status. A sentence appears only when the fact behind it exists. They contain no opinions.

Editorial writing

The homepage guide, genre guides, list descriptions and policy pages are written for MoviePick. They describe genres and viewing situations in general terms and do not pass judgment on specific titles.

How lists are made

Every ranked list and themed pick states its rule on the page: what qualifies, and how the order is decided. Titles are not placed on a list by hand, and no one can pay for a position.

What MoviePick will not publish

  • Invented ratings, reviews, viewing experiences or testimonials.
  • Claims that a title is available somewhere without data to support it.
  • Links to pirated streams or downloads, or wording that suggests them.
  • Adult titles, which are excluded from the catalog.

Scores, votes and thin records

A TMDB score appears only when a title has at least 25 votes. Below that, the page says so rather than showing a number that could mislead.

Corrections

Errors in catalog data are best fixed at the source, as the contact page explains. Errors in MoviePick’s own writing are corrected once they are confirmed.
